Yes 8 months is an ideal timeline to complete a fullstack bootcamp. I started just like you, got my first job from a senior dev from USA who saw my Sololearn profile and was very impressed. Best way to learn is build a project an app or some site. The more impressive projects you do, easier it will be to clear interviews and build an impressive portfolio.

For roadmap I always recommend. Starting with HTML, CSS and Javascript. Once basic frontend is done then go for some React Nodejs Postgres And keep making full stack applications.

Nope you can't get a job by just knowing the basics of web development, you need to master it first...and mastering web development in 8 months is possible but you need to be dedicated towards it and also you should have a plan(roadmap) for it. Nowdays getting jobs in india is harder so you need to be a Master of web development to get a job. Btw you know what, getting job is so hard in in india that peons in tech companies are master of HTML,CSS and Js

Tom Shaver It's been a long time since I applied for any job and by God's grace I am still fit to run my business ( it takes a lot to get through my typical day ). Yes programming degrees do help but do not let that discourage you. My mentor, David Carroll who spotted me here on this platform, a phenomenal programmer from Atlanta Georgia, comes from economics background. ( He was featured on the Sololearn AMA too). The best software engineer I know. My best hire till date was a mechanical engineer who was stuck in a non technical job for 6 years. I was once humbled by this MBA guy who ran his business through a huge python code repository. And here's the thing, almost everything that made me a successful developer, I picked up from the experts on this Sololearn community. I always recommend that if you have the drive, then finding the right mentor is much more fruitful. https://neetishop.medium.com/understanding-mentorship-by-a-software-engineer-245b99fa2254

Aiza Imran Eveeryone should be wary about clicking on web links in this section that don’t seem to have much to do with the question. Especially from people who are on level 1. Should this be reported?

The site https://roadmap.sh/frontend has a "map" for this, and most other kinds of developer. Morpheus - You also have an Engineering degree listed in your profile, which is a massive boost when applying to any kind of programming job.

Yeah, I know the degree doesn't prevent someone from getting a programming job, but the proven skills/knowledge of communication, math, problem solving, etc, does definitely help make those with a real degree "look" better. And yeah, getting a mentor while starting would be good. I've been programming as a hobby for about 19 years, but with no direction I've tried a ton of languages and have a bunch of garbage projects. I have applied for hundreds of jobs, but the only responses have been from stuff that isn't actually programming, but instead may benefit from programming knowledge. Now I've gotten myself into a situation where I have to try to make a website for a local bakery, but I don't like frontend or full stack dev, and would much rather be working on dev or business tools/toys.

To be fair, I'm terrible at socializing except in text, so I probably couldn't get hired even if I had a masters degree in software engineering.

Tom Shaver you seem familiar, from your codes I can definitely see you have been here long time. It's always great to meet old timers here.🙂 Sadly, communication is something that is critical and cannot be learned over text. I got some great tips for that too, but maybe in the different discussion thread.
